Airbrushing for Realism

The illustration on the right began as a series of line drawings of the different component parts, created and colorized in FreeHand. The components were then exported as Encapsulated Post Script files. Shadows, highlights, textures and 3-D effects and compositing were done in Photoshop with extensive computer airbrushing.

The final file was output to color separated film negatives for use as a brochure cover. A larger size was output directly to a high-quality inkjet printer for production of a poster.

This image began life as a line drawing in FreeHand. Shading and contouring were airbrushed in PhotoShop. The final product was output to an 18” x18” image on a high-resolution photo printer. It's also destined for eventual use in a new product bulletin.
